Project Manager, eBusiness / Web, Textron Information Services (December 2008 - present)
Member of team responsible for providing shared web services to all Textron business and functional units.

Projects and responsibilities

  • Project manager for various web activities, including CMS conversions of business unit websites. Past projects have included Textron, Cessna and E-Z-GO sites; this often involves orchestrating the activities of virtual teams in multiple locations
  • Manage and administer services for over 100 externally-facing web sites in a shared web hosting environment, working closely with both IT and marketing/communications personnel at the individual Textron business units
  • Administer over 600 domain names through Network Solutions, including purchases and transfers, and coordinate all DNS change requests and updates
  • Led team charged with troubleshooting legacy code issues remaining after migration to new enterprise web hosting environment
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedure documentation for external web site processes

Project Manager, CMS, Textron Information Services (April 2004 - December 2008)
Member of the Textron Enterprise Portal project team, a corporate entity responsible for the Textron Employee Portal serving all Textron business subsidiaries.

Projects and responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for managing and administering the enterprise content management system (CMS) used as the employee portal backend
  • As part of initial CMS selection process, interviewed current customers of vendors under consideration, documented hardware and software requirements, and costs and upgrade paths
  • Customized SunONE portal code to implement information architecture and Textron branding
  • Developed requirements for pilot project using FatWire Content Server with SunONE portal, including integration of CMS with SunONE portal to deliver content based on business unit and role(s) within the Textron organization
  • Developed proof-of-concept for re-architecting CMS code to allow for rapid deployment of multiple business unit intranet sites with site-specific branding
  • Managed and administered over 600 internal Textron business unit websites in an enterprise content management system
  • Created and maintained CMS Standard Operating Procedure documentation

Senior Systems Analyst, Bell Helicopter (February 2003 - April 2004)
Member of the Bell Helicopter IT Service center. Designed technical solutions, architected and developed web applications and created support documentation.

Projects and responsibilities

  • Technical lead and chief developer for Bell Helicopter's Content Management System (Revize) implementation. Performed product review, gathered requirements and wrote end user documentation and training materials
  • Developed the information architecture and user interface used for MyBellHelicopter website pilot project; this was later extended to all other Bell Revize sites
  • Technical lead and chief developer for external Bell Helicopter website using Revize CMS. Wrote end user documentation and training materials
  • Technical lead and chief developer for Secure Access application used to streamline requests for web access. Application captured user information, routed requests to appropriate parties for approval and captured approvers' decision and comments in a database for audit purposes
  • Duties also included performing numerous break-fixes to existing code and sites

Product Specialist, Bell Helicopter (January 2001 - February 2003)
Member of Bell Helicopter's eBusiness Group. Responsible for design and development of web-based solutions for Bell businesses.

Projects and Responsibilities

  • Part of a 3 person technical team which developed BellNetX, a database-driven used helicopter website. Responsible for site interface and for initial HTML implementation of design; coded portions of ColdFusion backend
  • Technical lead and principal developer for Bell-branded auction site used to reduce inventory of used helicopters taken in trade. This project was a finalist in the 2002 Textron President's Innovation award
  • Part of a 2 person team which designed and developed Nieman Marcus 2001 Christmas Wishbook promotion featuring a specially outfitted Bell 430

Web Consultant (January 1995 - January 2001)
Partner in 3 person web and design consulting firm

  • Ongoing development and maintenance of Michaels Stores web site 1995 - 2000. Responsible for all content and technical support. Developed and maintained numerous applications including interactive holiday features, on-line craft project library and special promotional materials. Worked closely with Michaels' marketing department
  • Consultation to various area design firms as implementation specialists. Clients included The Peterson Group and Rhodes Stafford Wines Creative; sites included Bucknell University admissions, Classic BMW Dealership, Fujitsu USA
