Sketchbooks
I usually carry a sketchbook with me (even if only a small one). I've kept one since I was 15 years old. They are the closest thing I have to an autobiography. I usually don't think too much about how a finished drawing turns out - they are a way of keeping notes, both visual and written.
New! I spent the holidays scanning and hve added new sections for cats, children and interiors. Lots of new images, hitherto only seen by me.
My friends and family have learned to put up with the annoyance of me sketching them.

I don't travel a lot for pleasure. When I do, I try and plan destinations that will allow me to sketch. Otherwise I draw my immediate surroundings.

I like drawing found still-lifes; the objects that litter our lives reveal much about us and the times we inhabit.

I confess: I'm a cat person - I've had them in my life ever since I was an infant. They are great models; completely unself-conscious.

I was mom in our family until both my children were in school and drew them almost constantly, sleeping or awake.

Sadly, a few of my sketch books have been destroyed (never had one stolen, knock on wood). A studio flood in 1991 put several of my larger notebooks underwater long enough to make a fine mess of things. A couple were inadvertently left out where the rain got them. Still valuable to me, but not suitable for sharing.
Because I do these for me, most of these drawings have not been shown before.
