2019 was pretty much a breakout year for me in several ways.

For starters, a new website (https://www.rontaylorcrouch.com), urged on me by my millenial sons, who told me pointblank, “Nobody knows or cares who ‘Ralph Art’ is – use your real name.” They also said I talked too much on the Ralphart.com website. “Just show your art and don’t ramble on.” So if you want to read my bloviations, go to Ralphart.com, if you just want to see the art, go to RonTaylorCrouch.com.

I also joined the Texas Artists Coalition – a great organization that is a program of the Arts Council of Fort Worth. I ended up being included in 6 separate exhibitions at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center over the course of the year:

  • TAC Impromptu Invitational Spring Gallery Night 2019 (March 1 – 30)
  • Solo Show[Down] 2019 ( July 5 – 24)
  • 14th Annual TAC Juried Exhibit (August 2 – 21)
  • Animalia, curated by Barbara Koerble (August 2 – 21)
  • TAC Impromptu Invitational Fall Gallery Night 2019 (September 7 – 27)
  • TAC Small Works Show 2019 (November 1 – December 1)

Getting involved gave me an opportunity to make the acquaintance of Jonathan Mark Levy, who was the Programs and Gallery Manager at the time.

Elsewhere, I’ve gotten involved in Art Room, a fairly new arts organization based on Fort Worth’s bustling South Side, where I’ve become friends with co-founder Nathan Madrid, who is an exceptional artist himself. I’ve currently got 3 pieces in the Small Works Show (November 21 2019 – January 11, 2020). They have a number of multigenerational programs going on (I’ve been dropping in on their life drawing sessions) and are a very cool group of people.

Outside Fort Worth, I was invited to show in the CHAOS 7! – Ro2 Art Summer Small Works Spectacular (lots of fun!) in Dallas, which ran from August 10 – September 14.

Last but not least, I had a piece in the Center for Contemporary Arts Third National Juried Competition, in Abilene Texas, which was on display from September 14 – November 2.

Looking ahead, the TAC has accepted a proposal for a solo show at the FWCAC sometime in 2020. Dates and details to be decided. I’m really looking forward to that and to seeing what else the new year will bring.
